I’ll be making three appearances--official ones, that is--at Bloody Words, Canada’s national conference for writers and readers of crime fiction, which begins June 5 in Ottawa.
Friday, 7:30 p.m., I’ll be reading from High Chicago at the Mystery Cafe, which is open to participants and the public.
Saturday, 1:00 p.m., I’m moderating a panel called ”From Page to Screen,” where I’ll talk with bestselling author Linwood Barclay on the experience of havings books optioned and filmed. Also appearing are author Christine Whitlock and a panelist to be named later.
Saturday: 5:00 p.m., I’m sitting on a panel called ”Getting to Dead: An examination of different genres,” with authors Louise Penny, Caro Soles, Coleen Steele and Margaret Stoddardt.
I also hope to visit some Ottawa bookstores to sign copies of Buffalo Jump, and meet plenty of crime writers and enthusiasts in the formal and informal arenas. I also hope to be toting an Arthur Ellis award for Best First Novel--they’re being given out the night before--but that’s out of my hands (no pun intended).
Either way it’s been a great year since Buffalo Jump came out last June 3!
